The Ladies Panmure Golf Club: founded in 1893 in Monifieth has been in existence for 130 years. The 1871 clubhouse (currently the third oldest extant clubhouse in continuous use) was home to Panmure Golf Club until they decided to re-locate and moved to their permanent sight at Barry Downs known as Panmure Barry Golf Club.
When delving into the history of this Club, the resilience and comradeship is very much to the fore. The name of the club was adopted by the ladies when the gentlemen moved to Panmure Barry G.C.
The ladies weren't automatically given the building, as many years passed before they had the finance to buy the building but it has been in our possession ever since and like our predecessors, the upkeep of the club is down to the hard work of our members and friends, organising and supporting various money making schemes to fund any improvements.
We are all aware that Golf is not an easy game and much thought and determination has to be put into the game to achieve the standard we reach and maybe that is how we see our club.
We consider the Club as one big family and though golf is important, so is the social aspect with refreshments and chat after the game.
